I purchased a s.silver “something” some years back in N.B. CA. It is a small bracket like silver oval with a raised wing insignia with a shield with US engraved on it. It reads “L D Smith” above the wings and “flying instructor” below the wings. On the reverse Side, it reads “Leon D Smith” “Millerton, Pa.” Sterling.
I have to assume this has something to do with Leon “Windy” Smith.
Is this his instructor wings from WWI?
Thank

you
