I have this what seems to be a very early-maybe a prototype of this Frankoma casserole. While the bottom is not marked ‘Frankoma ‘ it is marked with the ‘5P’ mold. It looks very rough as if it were not kilned correctly. Any thoughts?

Not all pieces turn out well after firing !! If the pottery had to trash them,, that would be a loss of revenue !! Selling as “seconds” made it a break almost even proposition !! They were not getting rich anyway !! Some were barely keeping their heads above water !!
I think some of the seconds went home with the employees.!! pretty sure that many of those are being sold now !! I occasionally see some with what is referred to as “errors” !!

The 5P is in this list of mold numbers !! Its possible yours was sold as a :”second” !! Not sure about Frankoma but other potteries sold the “not perfect” pieces this way !!
