Hi i’m a new member , I recently came across very unusual
piece of pottery that is all white I cant make out what the mark is on the front of the piece because it is all white I cant determine if the mark is letters or a symbol. can anyone suggest a method to read the mark? without damaging the piece. Thanks for any help 🙂

Have you used the online pottery mark websites to see if you can identify it as well?

The crayon idea is a great one, but I suggest you use thin paper like tissue paper or onion skin paper.

I used a crayon and notebook paper, placed the paper on top of it and gently rubbed the crayon across. It was an odd shaped bottle that turned out to be a really old nugrape bottle, but I’m sure this will work on pottery. Good Luck
