Well its not a mfrs mark of any kind !! This is a part of the pottery now for what reason I have no clue !! Maybe to keep them from banging together when stacked !! Many times pottery will have tiny dots from the firing cones spaced about the same as the round areas !! But these are added for a reason,,just do not know what it is !!
