I’ve been digging through boxes of stuff I’ve had in storage for several years and I must say it is like Christmas. I found a very cool 3 Deck playing card case made by HUBER & LERNER, of Vienna. It has a black bakelite Spade on the top of the lid, a nickel plated lift tab at the front, and it has a wood lined divided compartment for 3 decks of cards. It is 4 1/4″ high X 3 1/8″ X 3 1/8″. I can’t tell if it is covered in a burgundy lizard skin or if it is faux skin. Is there a way to test it or identify it?

The bottom is covered with black paper and has an original green and gold paper sticker: PAPIER HANDLING, HUBER & LERNER, WEIN KOHLMARKT 7.

I have done a little research but really all I could find is that the company was founded in 1901 and that they specialized in stationary. Does anyone know if this card case is unusual for the company or did they sell other items besides Stationary? Is this from the 1920’s? Look forward to hearing from the experts out there. Thank you.
