I recently purchased at a high end estate consignment store an Item – nobody knew what it was. I suspect its an very old belaying pin. It’s bronze and 14 inches long. The inserted pin section is 9 inches and it has a decorative horned cow head mounted at the top. It also has four small rings rigidly brazed below the bulls head, one under the snout and the others each 90 degrees from the other. a 5th ring is heavier brazed above the pin shoulder stop where the ‘haft’ begins is a heavier brazed ring holding another about 1.3 in diameter ring. I’ll attach a few pictures – if anyone has some insight as to the origin of this or can recommend a resource to assist in identification, please advise
