I have a metal Belding Hall co ice box. I have searched the Web to find information. But I’m only finning pictures and information regarding wood ones! I am presuming they started to create the metal ones just prior to the company closing!! But again I cannot find anything to support this..HELP!
Have pictures but files are to big to download.

From what I could gather (and there isn`t much about their products) The metal ice boxes were a short term item likely produced while transitioning from block ice and wood to electricity !! Its worth keeping in my opinion !! Many of these wound up in the local garbage site once electric refrigerators could be purchased !! I would say you could get around $500. as-is !!
Interesting that your Mom worked there !!
The building that Hall owned was in poor condition and the city threatened the current owner to either make repairs or the city would take over and do it !! It is//was a huge complex and was at one time the largest refrigeration company in the area !! Perhaps that where the floor grate came from,, the renovation !!

I’m actually located on Michigan..not far from Belding (sorta what made me buy it a few yrs ago from a shop). I also bought a old metal floor grate that had Belding stamped in it.
It’s not in bad condition. The only thing that was wrong with it when I got it was the metal on the bottom corners..pulled back a little!!
I only pd 200 not knowing it’s value. I have been trying to find ones similar but there doesn’t seem to be any!!! I read what I could find about the company…but I didn’t realize when Gibson bought it that he continued to use the name. What’s even funnier about this my mom worked for Electrolux yrs ago. I debated on selling it.

That is a neat old ice box !! Is it in as good condition as it looks ??
Hall & sons started making ice boxes in 1877 if I remember correctly !! Around 1900 the company was purchased by Frank Gibson but continued using the Belding-Hall name !! They started making electric refrigerators in 1932 so my guess is that yours would have been made sometime in the 20`s or early 30`s !! It went through one or two more owners before being purchased by Electrolux !!
