This is a humidor (I think) that was given to my father in the 1950’s by a wealthy man he did some work for. It is very ornate, heavy, and cedar lined. I have the key for it also – in the shape of a lion.
The mark on the bottom is a standing lion with GERMANY under it and a small “o”.
Is it brass? Is it a humidor? Anybody know anything about this item? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks for your help.
The inside is cedar lined with silver or brass or whatever it is made of around the edges.
The design on the top and sides are mythological with animal-like creatures as well as humans. On the top it depicts a human riding a unicorn. There are other humans (one carrying a pole with dead rabbits hanging from it) and some dogs that look like they are hunting dogs. The feet are like dragon heads.
It is super heavy and measures 11″ X 5 1/2″ and is 5″ tall.
I will check out the info you gave me and would appreciate anything else you might suggest.
Might be a German Sterling Silver Etrog Box Early 20th Century Is it silver on the inside as well? Are the designs on the side of animals or? Its very ornate. Is it about 5½ inches wide or so? If its small like that I would say its worth would be $850.00 up to $2,800.00 depending on the age of it and what it is made of. Hope this helps
