How do I go about getting a real appraisal on items that I have acquired?

Sorry but Friedrich is right !! Would have been helpful to know what you have that you want an appraisal on and why you need it !! Most items less than $5K can be found on ebay and many things over that amount !! Only high end items are worth the cost of an appraisal,, and even if you did get one that does not say that your items would sell for the same price as another same or similar item !!
If you do not know how to find the sold/completed items on ebay,, come back here and I will tell you how to find them !!

Please define “getting a real appraisal”. If you think you can pay somebody for a reliable appraisal nowadays, hard lines. This is not the 1990s. More or less static “book values” have long ceased to exist and have been replaced by a market on which supply and demand (and therefore value) changes in less than an hour, 24/7/365.

You should save yourself a lot of money by avoiding “appraisers” (mere professional liars nowadays) and check eBay’s closed (finished) auctions yourself. Unlike active auctions, closed auctions show what an item *really* sold for, not some made-up price tag the seller wanted to achieve.
