Please define “getting a real appraisal”. If you think you can pay somebody for a reliable appraisal nowadays, hard lines. This is not the 1990s. More or less static “book values” have long ceased to exist and have been replaced by a market on which supply and demand (and therefore value) changes in less than an hour, 24/7/365.
You should save yourself a lot of money by avoiding “appraisers” (mere professional liars nowadays) and check eBay’s closed (finished) auctions yourself. Unlike active auctions, closed auctions show what an item *really* sold for, not some made-up price tag the seller wanted to achieve.
