Last summer I shipped 117 lots (about 250 pieces) of antique, collectable and art pottery to a famous auction house known for pottery in Columbus Ohio. The prices fetched were absolutely terrible. Here is a partial listing: Clewell Lidded Bowl (professionally cleaned but some of original patina missing): $55
Owens Utopian Mug (by Steele): $21
4 5/8″ Van Briggle Base, exc. condition: $21
Cowan Marigold Vase & Ivory Candelabra: $7
Rick Wisecarver Rhino Mug: $30
4″ Fulper Pitcher, Mint: $10
Weller Blended Glaze Jardiniere, marked: $9.50
Large Bennington Grape Pitcher, well-documented but not marked: $1
(Yes, you read that right, $1 and zero cents)
I’ve heard about some recovery in the pottery market, but these prices don’t reflect that.

Wow! Very disheartening
