My wife has a figurein she purchased in a German castle 1964. It is a couple dancing probably dressed in 18th century fancy clothes. The women’s dress has lots of pink lace.
There are several additional single ballerina figurines as well.
They all have a gold Crown PK Germany label on the bottom of each figurein.
Thanks
Well, “around 1970” is give or take 5, so 1965 is possible. The overall style of these items makes it hard to pinpoint a certain age and the used marks in this case are no help, either.
The business behind the mark never really made anything themselves, even though they described themselves as “porcelain manufacturer” they merely traded items purchased elsewhere, branded and decorated per order. So older looking designs may often be newer than others, depending on what the target market or customer desired. Result: no clear “timeline” in products or marks.
As supplier for inexpensive gift- and souvenirware, the business itself is noteworthy for using an impressive range of well over twenty different marks in around the same amount of years. Various bankruptcies and company renames were one matter, but the proprietor never published anything about his business and used plain brochures and catalogs. No background, no additional info at all.
For various reasons I never comment on value, with cases like this not even being one of the main reasons. Next to the common points of view and interest, these goods don’t come from one “known” factory, never have a stable quality grade, were always produced for the low-budget segment, and generally have a sort of “junk shop” flair (which is not a bad thing, as there are collectors for such items, too).
My dilemma? In Germany such items are sold at flea markets for up to two Euro per piece, but local prices elsewhere may of course vary. And THAT is one of the reasons I never comment on value: a Russian would probably pay US$ 25 for it without blinking simply because it’s German. But what is it ‘worth’? Well ….
Thank you very much for the name of who actually made the figurine!
1970 seems close, but my wife was 13 years old at the time, and her family was in Germany from 1964 to 1967, and that”s when these figurines were purchased.
Can you tell me approximately how much the figurine is worth? Or how I go about finding it”s value?
Thanks again!
