I have an oval silver pin roughly 3″ 2″. The silver marking tells me it was made by the William B. Kerr Company in Newark, which began in 1855. They were purchased by Gorham silver in 1906, so the pin is older than 1906. I believe the MDCCC on the pin is a date (1800.) West Point adopted a coat of arms in 1898 – the sword and helmet of Pallas Athena. That is what this one is. The direction of the sword on the coat of arms was changed in 1923, so the pin was made somewhere between 1898 and 1923. It was among my husband’s grandmother’s jewelry. Can anyone tell me the value of it or how to asertain the value? Thanks for your help! Doris
