I bought this hand lettered and illuminated poem years ago in a second hand store in Boston, Massachusetts. I’d like to know more about it including its possible value and history. I have no information about the poem, nor whom the initials S. W. belong to- whether it’s the person who wrote the poem, the artist who created the piece, or if they’re the same person. The poem is on sheep vellum and I believe the illuminations may be tempera with some fine gold ink lines. The cardboard backing it was originally mounted on bulged out badly so I had to replace it using archival board and glue. It was necessary to remove the original paper backing that sealed the poem in its frame in order to repair it. Any information is very much appreciated.
