Question about Dept of State Special Agents Division 1916 badge
I am seeking information about the relative scarcity and value of a US Department of State Special Agents Division badge that is the earliest design from 1916. I have had poor luck finding any useful internet sources of information about this particular badge. I have attached images of the obverse and reverse of this badge. There are a few small, shallow abrasions on the badge, the only group of them is on the scrollwork below the eagle and above the “US”. These are probably from being stored in a jewelry box by the previous owner. I appreciate any help you may be able to offer in relation to my inquiry.
Let me know what they say !! I have not found this badge either on any of the sale sites like Ebay !! These badges were used by those that guarded foreign dignitaries and other State Dept Personnel !! Most of the sites like ebay have the more action oriented badges like DEA, Police and Special Forces badges !! Those are about the only ones selling and even those are replicas !! Look for those that collect badges and collector groups !! They will help get an idea of the value !!

Best place for this item would be at auction !! Try the link above !! They have a free appraisal service !! Check them out before listing with them !! And look for auctions in your area !! Might be better since you would be there to handle it !!
Make sure you know and understand how the sales are handled and put a reserve if there is a price you would not sell lower than !! Get several estimates on value !!
