I have a piece of planking from the whaling bark Wanderer, which was the very last whaling ship to be built out of Mattapoissett, and the very last whaling ship to set sail out of New Bedford, MA. While anchored, to ride out a storm after her last voyage, the anchor gave way and she was wrecked on the rocks at Cuttyhunk, off the Elizabeth Islands, in August of 1924. The planking has a plate on it that reads: “Planking from Whaling Bark 1878 Wanderer 1924 Wrecked on Cuttyhunk Aug. 26
I am trying to determine what this piece might be worth.
I have a photo, but seem to be unable to attach it to this message. I would be happy to send a photo via email, per request.
Thank you
