I see no dovetails,, just a simple butt joint !! The construction looks to be the cheapest they could find !! Luan, bottom of drawers and pine secondary wood !!
So that leaves the mark,, which is probably the person who did the painting on this piece !! I do not think any mfr would put their name on an item that was made like this one was !! Although it probably had a stick on label or string tag when it was new !! You might check the bottom for a name but I do not think you will find one !! These things like this were just made to sell and not intended to last very long !! You can still see the sloppy glue applied on the drawer bottom !!

OK,, Furniture is my area !! There is no way to determine an exact date !! Furniture and styles went in usually 10 to 20 year increments with most of those overlapping !! At any given time there were 5 or 6 styles going around !! What I can tell you is that this item was not made for either the Japanese or Chinese market !! It was made for sale in the west,, probably the good old USA !! Can`t even be sure it was made in either country as an export item !! But I think it was more likely made here by Japanese or Chinese craftsmen probably in the late 30`s or early 40`s !! Asian or oriental design was a big trend back then !!
Can you open one of the drawers and take a pic of the dovetail joints on the side ?? Seeing how it was made will help !!
I will see if I can get an idea about the mark !!
