can’t have long responses I guess? Aetco made mainly tiles, Another company spelled Ateco made the kitchen wares. I did find an inkwell and a partial nude woman holding a small bowl that looked very Shawnish marked Aetco. Perhap’s they did not have a patent yet and used the name Aetco. I believe they made the syrup dispenser’s along with the ceramic knob’s with the flavoring name on them and used the Aetco name for awhile. As far as value I would have no idea. i guess you could compare them with other simuliar item’s. I wonder if they would be allowed today with the health standards. Have a good day
Hi jabe, This stupid website It keep’s taking away my response. Having spent two hrs researching heres my conclusion. Shawnee purchased the Aetco in June 1937 and opened with all new equipment on Sept 1937. A lot of Aetco employees stayed on. Shawnee developed kitchen ware and restaurant ware to withstand hot or cold food such as beater, butter, grease and service Jar’s. They had a specialty department to handle unusual items that other company’s needed.
Yes, they are American Encaustic Tiling. They look like typical drop-in-counter porcelain dispensers, with pump, much like any 1930’s Hall dispenser one might see offered on ebay. They are so similar in fact, that I wonder if Hall might have acquired their molds from AETCo (or Shawnee) around 1935 when AETCo folded.
I have scoured the internet for any reference to AETCo ever making such items, with no luck. I’ve also searched online and hard print price guides.
I’m assuming it’s American Encaustic Tiling co. They are known more for tiles but they also made kitchen ware, dispenser’s and aluminum ware based in Ohio. Try looking on e-bay for soda dispenser’s,or google images then soda dispensers for info and pictures. I don’t know what kind of dispensers you may have, some can be worth a lot.Hope this help’s you.
