Hello, I ran across a very old pottery bowl with a swastika on the side. I was interested in knowing the historyand worth of that sort of piece. I know the owners were from here in the states and have no ties to what is associated now with that symbol but since have passed on. Thanks so much for any information you can provide or a directin to go from here.

Thanks so much for enlightening me. The meaning is good luck and life. It was my Grandmother’s piece and I’ve always adored the beautiful worn look of it when she served out of it. I wish I asked more questions but I was too young to appreciate this bit of her history. Thanks again and best regards!

The Swastika is used in many cultures. Your bowl could be an early Brush Pottery piece.
