[*] I found this lovely little teapot and tried to find another one on line but failed. I thought it may be German in design and wondered if it was perhaps Schafer and Vater Jasperware? Can anyone help me with identification? The gilt on the handle is worn but is still visible around the cherub with a key. The inside is white.

Did some checking and I think you may be right !! Schaefer & Vater usually marked their items but they did not mark all of them !! The number is probably the mold number for that shape !! I did find several different items that were very similar in style and shape and also had the cherub in cameo !! Very much like your teapot !! One way to tell if it is theirs is simply by the feel of it !! Their pottery will have a smooth silky feel and not rough at all !! Schaefer & Vater pottery burned in 1918 and all records were lost !! They rebuilt and continued production until 1962 !! It was taken over by the German government in the early 70`s !! Your teapot would have probably been made sometime between that time period 1918 and 1962 !!
Scroll down on the link to see a teapot similar to yours !! I could not see the info on it but maybe you can !! I think the cameo is white on it where yours is gold !!
