I assume this basket is mostly ceramic because of the crazing on the body and base. I can not find any markings whatsoever, The footed base and handle are made of some kind of lighter material (not very dense). It looks old, and it is very cool, but I need help identifying it.

I saw this on a recent ‘Antiques Road Show’ on PBS. I don’t recall that well at age 76, but I think they said it was a bride basket or something like that. I think you could inquire through their web page. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/
They were saying that the silver part was usually a stock item in times past and that the ceramic part was often special made but that a number of selections were kept in store. It was a mix and match type of thing.
I could be wrong about what they called as I was doing something else and not paying close attention.
