Your pottery jug was made in the edgefield district in S. Carolina. Collin Rhodes Maker owned a large plantation with sawmill, gristmill and pottery and used slaves for his pottery. Before that he was half partner with his brother in the Phoenix factory selling his half in 1840.It only lasted a few years. That’s when Collin made pottery on his plantation until 1850. His pottery was decorated with folk art. Info came from Lehner’s Book of USA Mark’s. A Book was published by Greenville County Museum of Art Greenville,South Carolina. If this museum is still existing I would start here and they might want your Jug or give you a value. A hairline mark is not bad considering the age. This could be very collectable to South Carolinians who want to preserve it’s history since he was’nt in business for long.
