Hi, I have a pair of vase/ jugs that have been handed down through the family. Can some one help with identifying their use and approx value? They are Moritz Zdekauer (MZ Austria) see photos attached. They were originally given to my great grandmother to “hide ” over 100 yrs ago, but that’s all I know at this stage. Any help would be appreciated

Does the lid fit well ?? Its odd that it is colored a bit differently from the vase !!
Many people do not stop and think about what was going on back then !! There was much unrest and they really couldn`t trust anyone !! This may have been one of the most expensive items they owned and it was not unusual for things like this to be stolen or confiscated by governments !! That is the reason for hiding them !! Many times they would put other valuables inside !!
I would just call it a lidded vase,,I am guessing that it is between 9 and 12 inches tall,,although some they made were taller !! Moritz Zdekauer changed hands in 1909 but I think they continued to use that mark till about 1918,,would have to check on that !! Its very pretty but not unlike many other items they made in the Art Nouveau period !! You might look for an artist name on the outside !! These can run between $40. to about $ 85.!!
