Got a “cake pan” type of pottery today. Approx 13-inches round (wide) by 2.25-inches tall. Glazed inside; clay only at bottom. Has this mark (this is closeup and rotated and highly contrasted to bring out the mark). Can you steer me in the right direction for identifying it? Thanks!

Haha. Well, I bought it to soak turtles in (I’m a wildlife rehabber), but once I got a good look at it, I decided to keep it in the kitchen. I just made a lovely blackberry cobbler in it.

For being a cake pan, it’s awfully big, but I could see it being used for deep dish pizzas!

Thanks folks.

If anyone knows what the mark is, let me know. I’m curious.

Is it possible that it is exactly a clay cake pan? Some company was making clay baking ware made overseas and selling them for high prices at parties. Just a thought!

13″ wide x 2.25″ tall, roughly. Glaized clay.

This is a Chinese or possibly Japanese mark. Please post a photo of the item.
