Hello, I am currently cleaning out my great Aunt’s house who was an avid collector of Dresden figurines among many other figurines, lamps, etc. I don’t want to throw them on eBay, nor do I want to sell them at the estate sale. Do you have any tips or recommendations on how to sell these to someone who would value and appreciate them?

Thanks in advance!

Excellent points Friedrich !! Knowing how to present an item and good pics will go a long way in selling !!

Make sure you know what you are talking about and what you really have at hand. Your “Dresden”, without examples, could be Dresden as in ”really decorated there”, Dresden as in ”Dresden style but made somewhere else in Germany” or ”Dresden style but made outside Germany” and finally ”reads Dresden but has nothing to do with German Dresden and/or German Dresden style at all” (e.g. Dresden Pottery, USA).

People may rightfully accuse you of misrepresentation otherwise (not that some sites care, but one never knows). Above mentioned item groups already greatly influence resales price; also try to get the respective producers/studios right (some are more desirable than others).

As customer I personally do not see much difference between eBay, RubyLane or Etsy (sales fees may vary) but regarding the reputation or reliability of sellers there they are all equipped with a fair share of toxic sellers, next to the fact that item misrepresentation is the norm nowadays.

If you require assistance just post a few pictures here.

You could try a consignment shop in your area !! For higher end items try Ruby Lane or even Etsy !!
