My friend has inherited a room full of china (in Queensland, Australia). One set is a full dinner service complete with servers etc. I am more computer savvy and offered to help…. Can anyone please help these ignoramuses with information on this set? Gipsy 524076 mark, berries and wicker bright colours, excellent condition.

From what I can find the Grimwade Bros went into business in 1885/6 and made china at the Winton China Works , Stoke on Trent Staffordshire,England !! The number is the British Reg. Number, 524076 !! There are other patterns under this same reg. number !! So I am not sure if the reg number is for the company or a design registration !! As to a value you almost have to look each piece up separately !! The serving pieces can be a little pricier than the plates ect !! As a whole set (you didn`t say how many place settings so lets do 6 ) I am guessing in the $300. to $400. range USD !! Could be more or less depending on what day it is !! Sometimes you just can`t outguess the buying public !!
Your set is transferware !! So not hand done but was made en mass !! However it is a lovely set and would look as good on todays table as when it was made !! I

Hello Martha. Thanks for reply! I will post photo later as I have to go to finish some stained glass projects! I never imagined I would have a reply so soon!!
I tried to post a photo, jpg, but nothing happened, but when I return I will try again. Quick answer it s astar with a G Bros inside, Gipsy above, staffordshire, stokeontrent around and Rd no 524076, Tureen is brightly coloured berries with wicker pattern edge. Lovely tureen (thats all I have seen of set so far as friend is in Brisbane and I am 2500km away in Townsville “consulting”) lid has slot that ladle fits in.
Anyway, must go or glass club instructor will smack!!!
Thanks for your interest Gillian

Would be happy to try if you can post a pic of one of the plates or something so we can see the pattern and also one of the markings on back !! The name/label is important to ID ing it !!
