Hello,

I need some help identifying a few teacup/saucer sets I inherited from my grandmother. I haven’t been able to find a match for the manufacturer’s logos on 2 of them and the third one doesn’t have any markings on it at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi,

Very lovely China! I wasn’t able to solve any of your mysteries completely, but I found some info that might at least help you a bit. According to one site, (linked below) the crown with the ‘bone china’ and ‘england’ mark was used by a number of different potteries starting sometime around the 1920’s. So identifying a particular company will be difficult without any further info. One example I found of a company using a similar mark would be Rosina (at the bottom of the page here: http://www.thepotteries.org/ware/rosina/ ).

The Japanese piece is even more puzzling because while there seems to be enough information to find a maker, I can’t seem to find anything remotely similar as far as the mark is concerned. That being said, there are some pieces known to be Royal Sealy that have very similar patterns, so that may be a good place to start: https://www.etsy.com/listing/247576945/antique-royal-sealy-japan-teacup-saucer?ref=market and towards the bottom here: http://www.longbrookantiques.com/porcelain-antique-vintage-for-sale.html

Hope that helps!
