Hello, I am trying to find information on a set that I have which includes:
-Small plate with green R.C. CARMEN (Rosenthal) marking
– Bowl with green O.&E.G. ROYAL AUSTRIA marking & small ladle. They both have delicate details within the porcelain.
-Saucer with green T&V LIMOGES FRANCE marking, but also includes what appears to be the numbers 4047 underneath. I’ve done a lot of research but cannot find anything online about what those numbers mean (nothing similar even has numbers).
They are all signed, “Wollaston.”
They all have gold trim, and are painted powder blue and cream with blue “Forget Me Not” flowers.
I am trying to determine it’s worth and would love any information you all have. Thank you so very much!
Thats what we mean by married set !! Bits and pieces from different sets and mfrs that perhaps have the same flower but in different arrangements !! I think the name Wollaston may have been a hobby painter !! None of the mfrs had an artist with that name !! Early 1900`s china painting was very common !! They may have had some china with this flower and just painted theirs to go with the ones they had or added to an existing piece !! That is what is meant by re-decorating !!
Friedrich is correct,, this is a married set !! O&E G is Oscar and Edgar Gutherz !!
Had a paragraph here but realized I had the wrong mfr !! Checking more !!
How many pieces in the set have the Wollaston name on them ??
Also, the pieces are all unique- there is no repeated pattern anywhere. All of the flowers, leaves, etc. are different on every piece.
What you have is a so-called decorator marriage; items from multiple original makers were merged into a new ‘set’ by applying a matching decoration on all items. As with all re-decorated items this resets all former value related to the original makers.
While some decoration studios have a market of their own (Pickard, Kuba, etc.) smaller studio and hobbyists-decorated goods (as appears to be the case here) often only keep sentimental value as their products are one-off jobs which do not allow for replacements or additions.
T&V had an internal coding system which in certain cases used customer/order codes that stated whom a certain lot was made for. There are no offiicial T&V publications regarding these codes as far as I know.
Thank you! In your opinion are these pieces worth anything? They are in great condition. I’m attaching more pictures.
What confuses me most are the numbers (or whatever they are) underneath LIMOGES, FRANCE. I can’t find anything like it, other than the ones that say DEPOSE, but that’s not what this is.
Thank you so much for the information. All 3 pieces are signed Wollaston. Please let me know if you find out anything more! 🙂
