Hello,

I would like some help identifying this German porcelain mark. I can’t make out the word nor identify the marking based on the monograph.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Best,

Curt

That is an unidentified decorator / decoration studio mark and reads “WESTERN GERMANY”, indicating use between around 1951 and 196x. It is hard to say as the terminology shifted from “WESTERN GERMANY” to “WEST GERMANY” and then “W. GERMANY” later but each and every company chose for themselves if and when they adapted. Each company therefore has its own timeline (unknown decorator = unknown timeline).

Their decorations mainly consisted of transfers and templated gilding. Shown mark and it’s cover-up version can be found on items from various Bavarian producers from the same period.
