I inherited 15 pierced plates with a bird motif that I believe were made in the Dresden region but I have been unsuccessful in identifying the crown mark and determining the value of the set. Each plate is 9 1/4” diameter. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Various producers are possible but the mark was one of the decoration studio Helena Wolfsohn from Dresden city, Saxony. Shown mark was used between 1881 and 1919. Note that the studio was named after the founder but had been taken over by her daughter Emilie and her son-in-law Leopold Elb in 1880 under continuation of the business name. In Germany it is commonly spoken of “Wolfsohn Nachfolger” ( “Wolfsohn successors” ) even if that company name form was never officially used. It is merely a handle to hold apart two different periods of business.

I do not comment on “value” as prices change world-wide in less than an hour nowadays. To get a rough idea on what people may pay, see the closed (finished) auctions on eBay – those contain realy paid prices and not the fantasy price tags set by sellers.

Thank you very much Friedrich! I followed your suggestion and found some interesting pieces and sets that sold on Ebay. I greatly appreciate your knowledge and willingness to share the interesting details of their potential history since no one in my family had any information. I believe I will pass them along to my daughters (with this information!) in the future because they are truly a beautiful and cheerful grouping:) All the best, Susan
