I have a figurine of a woman in short dress and arms reached up. Stamp reads
Germany Kunstabteilung Selb Handgemalt G.K. It looks like there may have been an initial stamped in but I can’t make it out. What was the purpose of these ART STUDIO pieces? Based on the stamp and the Rosenthal website, the piece may be from 1934-1956.
Items by both Rosenthal “Kunstabteilung” divisions are per definition not rare but mass produced. The only “art” context is that the items were hand painted, elaborately gilded (including etched gold decor), or based on award-winning in-house designs. The only cases where Rosenthal produced “rare” items were the Studio Line product ranges of which some series were real limited editions with less than 100 items produced.
Also, the Rosenthal website is not that of the long closed producer Rosenthal but that of the Italian brand owner. If you want a mark dated, please ask here.
