Hello. I have a duck-shaped jug and cannot work out who made it. I have found it only twice on the net but each time there was just a picture and no information. Would it be classified as majolica ware? Who do you think made it? What would it be worth roughly?
The jug is 9 inches beak to handle; 7 inches high; and 4.5 inches wide.

Love this forum.

Cheers Stephen

Ok, thank you for the valuable input.

All the best.

These signatures ( if you want to call them that) are usually decorators marks not mfrs marks !! Mfrs marks are rarely hand done unless they are studio potters !! You want to see a good stamped or impressed mark from a known mfr !! The letters on the bottom remind me of a European version of “Jug” !! I would guess this is an Italian import !!

So, the signature doesn’t ring a bell? 🙁 I’m reattaching a bigger pic. I don’t know why that one turned out so small.

Thanks.

Majolica is simply a tin based glaze so its a bit shinier than some others !! Made by many mfrs and in many countries !! Looks to be a small pitcher or creamer !! Most likely,, unless you can find the mfr. ( too small to tell ) less than $20.
