Hi! I’m new here.

I picked up a set of six small porcelain plates today, all the same pattern. The one I checked had a T & V Limoges France mark on the back. When I got home I discovered that four of the plates have M Z Austria marks. The pattern and everything about the plates are identical except the T & V plates are slightly smaller in diameter and have a small raised circle in the center of the back.

I did not know two manufactures in two countries could use the identical pattern. Is that common?

By the way, I have pictures but do not know how to embed them here.

Thanks,

Davd

yes this is very common, I myself have have many pieces of patterns especially roses made in Germany, Austria and France all the same pattern. Even Japan has copied many of these patterns. Any time something was popular many other factories would copy it. This is still going on today with RS Prussia, Limonges, Nippon etc.
