Medical Pottery? Have no idea of what this is looking for a back story and value on this set. Very old condition and the pitcher has been broken and glued? Makers marks are not clear most pieces have the same number (looks like German).
Not unless someone new shows up !! Me and a couple of others have been the only ones that help for the last few years !! Why did you try the metals forum when this is English pottery ?? I tried to keep up with all the categories for a while but ran short of time !! Furniture is my area but there was not much being posted here !! Guess I should check occasionally but if you just go to recent you get them all !! !!
Anyone that answers questions here is not associated with the Kovels website !! We are just volunteers that have been in the business over the years !!

Here is the link to the other forum so you can read the opinions !! These people know more than I do about the use of these items !!
Thank you so much. It is interesting to see the different approaches and opinions. I have posted something in metals on this side and do not have any replies yet. Do you think I could have more luck over there? You have definitely been very helpful.
Yes,, I can see the design now that you mention it !! This site does not enlarge pics so we miss some details !! Is that design on both of the taller items ?? The one with the holes,, are the holes in the bottom ?? I was assuming they were in the top portion and that it sat on top with the bottom for catching drips !! That way they could both be cleaned !! With holes in the bottom,, could be a spooner or celery holder !!
Yes the design is on both of the tall items. The holes are on the bottom as it sits on the oval plate in the set picture.
Well,, The general consensus is that you have several pieces from a bathroom set !! Can you give the approx sizes of each piece ?? Does the top circular part on the smaller pieces come off ?? The one with the holes would have been for shaving brush !! The excess water and soap would have dripped off the brush and into the bottom part !! Knowing the sizes and how those two parts fit together will help !! Don`t forget to add the larger bowl size !!
Thank you for continuing to look into these. The smaller pieces are one piece. Measurements are:
Single handle bowl with lid- H- 5 3/4″ x W- 10″
Small pitcher with handle – H- 8 1/2″ x W- 4 1/2″
shaving brush holder- H- 5 1/4″ x W- 3 1/2″ widest and 2″ at opening
oval plate W-5 3/4″ x L- 8″
Large bowl H- 5 3/4″ x W- 15″
I noticed when I was measuring that the design on the vase was two snakes inter-twined and facing each other with mouths open.

Scroll down at the link and you will find your mark !! It was not for medical pottery just was one of Bishop and Stonier`s trademarks !!
Thank you again marthahill. It still does seem odd that it is part of the pottery and not stamped. We could make the assumption that is from the late 19th century. Is it a usual occurrence to have this many pieces from a set still together after so many years? I do not know anything about pottery or porcelain and this come to us as a large lot of boxes as one lot at auction.
You all are awesome people. The other posting in metals was for a different item. Some sort of an old casting. I am going to upload it to the other site. Thank you again for all of your help.
