I have a small matte green vase with an unusual design and unknown markings on the base. I have searched the internet but have never seen another vase of similar design. Folk art? Expressionist?
The sides are grooved in a highly abstract design. Some parts appear to take the shape of a tree and a leaf but that requires some imagination (see pictures). The bottom has an incised “215”, and what appears to be a hand painted decorators mark in the form of a circle “J” covering the the “5.”
Height: 5.5 inches. Diameter: 5.0 inches. Entire surface except the foot is glazed with a matte green finish. The foot appears to be covered with a clear glaze.
Any clues would be greatly appreciated!
