Could this be an oil lamp? After looking at some pictures of other stoneware oil lamps, it has a similar flared top to other oil lamps I have seen.

It is hard to say Tanner, No marks of any kind? Even the most famous and best potters make crude looking ugly jugs. Usually a school project the kids make a mark or initials. Hang on to it ,Ya never know, it could be a piece of galena pottery

Could really use some info on this piece. Right now I know very little about this. As far as I can tell it is a handmade stoneware jug/vase. There is obvious red visible so I am guessing its made of red clay. I found this piece in the Chicago, IL area. New to the pottery collecting scene, so just getting my feet wet. But would really just like to know if this really is an antique piece, or if it is a high school student’s art project. The crudeness in the make has me torn between those 2 options.

Thanks for the help!!
