The set was purchased in Rome City, Indiana in the 1930s. The backstamp is a smiley face (see picture). It was possibly made at a convent near this town.

Sorry, should have explained that. The red text are numbers. The top number is 1081, which I believe is the lot number. The bottom number (e.g., 55) is different on each piece, so it is likely an item number.
