This vase has no mark. I’m guessing it’s European, but from which country and by which maker? What about its value?

Thanks

Just because an item looks like or is in the style of a well known maker does not translate into dollar value !! I would estimate the lower end of that estimate !! Porcelain as a whole has been down for a while !!

This is disappointing. Thanks for your information.

If this was a true Meissen compote with the mark it would be worth upwards of $300. There are “wild” prices out there as LISTINGS but to price this I looked at SOLD listings to see what the market is doing. Here is a recently sold footed bowl with a lot of detail:

It’s nice when terms can fold over to different mediums to keep it easy like that. Reticulated/pierced is one in the same. Compote is the form/style of something.

Hi Jeffrey,

Thanks for your reply.

I did a quick google search and see why you say this might be a Meissen/Dresden piece, but I’m surprised at your low appraisal of its market value.

BTW, It’s interesting that the same terms of art, like “reticulated,” “compote,” etc., apply to porcelain. I’ve only heard it used in connection with silver.

This is a very pretty piece! You have a porcelain reticulated compote fruit bowl or centerpiece. A metal base is unusual to find in this style. I’m also unsure of the maker in this case but the style looks that of Meissen/Dresden of Germany. As a period decor piece, If I was to sell this in my shop on Etsy, I would list it for between $80-$125. Hope this helps!
