Hi! I need help resolving a dispute. My friend has several pieces of the Taylorstone Cathay dinnerware. I bought a calendar plate for her birthday; however, she says that they stopped production of the dinnerware in 1964 so she’s perplexed by a calendar plate with 1972 on it. I believe that it started production in 1964 and ran through 1973 when Anchor Hocking bought the pottery; however, I don’t have any proof and I’m no expert. Any help? Thanks in advance! According to Lehners U. S. marks on pottery and clay, the Taylorstone mark was used into the middle 1970ties, The plates such as calendar and the Holly Hobby plates were made for the American Greeting Card co. into even the 1980ties. The Anchor Hocking co.closed the plant in 1992. You were very lucky to find a calendar plate that matched her dishes. My guess is they made calendar plates years in advance. In other words when your freinds dishes were made they also made several years of calendar plates in advance.
