After 4 years we are still going through mom’s things a little at a time. This vase is the latest that my brother found. Does anybody know anything about the artist that made this vase. Looks to be either 1906 or 07. Hard to tell from the photo my brother sent me. Looks like this might have been a beginner or a child’s attempt from the quality of work done here…..certainly not of the same line as the other piece of Rookwood I have. Any info is most welcome. Thanks and good hunting! Annette

I found a little info on Agnes Pitman. I don’t think it is hers. Her signature is much like Albert Pons as being in block and not script. She only did Rookwood pieces From 1881 through 1883. Here is a link that will show her signature and work. Thanks for looking. I’m still searching and would appreciate any input you have. Annette

Found a more comprehensive list but can`t find the first two blog pages !! This list has the artists broken down according to desirability !! Found one more possibility,, Agnes Pitman, but have not found her mark yet not much info !! She was in the C list I think !! Its given as A,B,C, & D list !!

Thanks for replying. I was thinking the same thing. From the appearance of the vase, it looks like an amateur hand. Maybe a child or teen close to Mr Pons. The bottom was not cleaned up of drippage of slip and the art work was not unlike what my 5 year old grandchild would do. I do not have a clue. You are right,,,,,that is not Mr Pons normal signature and it is highly likely that the list of artists may be incomplete. Thanks for looking into this. I will keep looking also. ….Annette

Not sure about this vase !! The only artist at Rookwood that matched those initials AFP is Albert F. Pons or Ponds!! But yours is written in script and according to this he used a conjoined AP in block letters !! I wonder if this list is complete ?? Will look further !!
