Hi,
I just joined Kovel’s website.
I have collected Roseville Pottery, for more than 40 years.
I received, from a Great Aunt, a Roseville Pottery Gardenia Green Bowl, though she called it a Console bowl.
It’s marked Roseville U.S.A. 12″ 630.
I do not have any idea of it’s value or the year it was produced.
This item is in Very Good to Excellent condition.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thats true but you have to remember the sheer numbers of items that Roseville and other potteries made !! These were items for the common working class so you will find many still in families as heirlooms !! Back in the 1970`s and 80`s,, before the internet was in use antique shops charged and arm and a leg for some of these !! Now its so easy to market items to everyone across the globe they are popping up everywhere and have for years !! So,, the more available for sale the less they sell for !! As you said,, its supply and demand !! The antique market is similar to the Wall Street stock exchange and can change quickly !! What was popular yesterday may not be tomorrow,,But just hang onto yours for a while !! The market may recover in the future !!
Late period planter produced in 1950 !! Roseville lists 30+ different shapes for the Magnolia series !! Yours is listed at about $125. but there are many available online so take that price with a grain of salt !! Could be less !!
Hello marthahill,
Thank You for the information.
I remember when Roseville pottery vases were selling for $200.00(regardless of pattern.)
The market, for Roseville pottery, has become overwhelmed by the sheer number of available listings that the law of Supply and Demand now dictates price and, IMHO, it’s a crying shame.
I suppose I am Old School because there will always be a niche to price RV P with sentimentality in mind.
These are personal feelings, thoughts and opinions.
I’d rather take a hammer to a RV vase, instead of selling it for $25.00.
Hi marthahill,
Every word, you wrote, is right… sadly so.
An aunt used to call my grandfather “old fuddy duddy.”
I’m not sure of its meaning but I think it refers to one with old fashioned beliefs. If so, I guess I’m a fuddy fuddy. LOL.
