I recently came across some prototypes. I have had some interest in them by Seaway and other companies. They haven’t given me a value yet. Can someone who knows about these please help!
The link provided has some other non prototype pieces as well. Thanks!
According to what I found the prototypes would be stamped with a “property of,,not for resale” Or a stamp that says “design sample” A few may have been assigned a number if they got close to production !! Yet if you search for a prototype using that number hn2248 you still get “Tall Story” !! You may need to go direct to the doulton factory to have them authenticated !! Since they dumped all the prototypes on the market in the 90`s ,, they should still have records of them !!
yes, but no offence, the pictures don’t match the hn number. lets say for example, hn2248, its a woman and a child that I have, not a sailor….
that is why I need someone who knows about prototypes, many never made it to market, like hn2248 instead they went with a different one.
thanks so much for helping!
Looked at several sites including U.S. ebay and a few in the UK !!
hn2211, Fair Maiden,,asking prices between $30. and $60. USD,,none selling !!
hn2248, Tall Story,,asking prices $100. to $300.,,none selling !!
hn2425, Southern Belle,, between $40. and $150.,,none selling !!
hn2390, Spinning,,few listed and about $400. saw none selling !!
hn2384, West Indian Dancer,,Around $200. none selling !!
1433 Little Bridesmaid,,in flambé,,$20 to $40. same !!
Now all that said,, the book values will be considerably higher than any here but except for insurance purposes they are worthless as guides to current value !! Value is determined by what someone is willing to pay for an item !! You can ask whatever you wish for an item,, getting it is another thing !!
