Obviously, neither of them is a Hummel.

Hummel figures were once crafted by the Goebel company, based on sketches drawn by Berta (later Sister Maria Innocentia) Hummel. All Hummel figures have the inmold “M.J. Hummel” signature. No such signature, no Hummel.

Goebel crafted items based on many other artists and designers; sometimes the impressed letters give a hint on either designer or series.
