Hi, my Mum has some small side plates with a Ridgways Semi-Porcelain mark >1891. They have a really unusual pattern that looks almost like two separate designs on the one plate – on the left is a tree that looks Japanese inspired & on the right is an English cottage scene. Any thoughts on this?? I’m intrigued!!

Thanks,
Rose

Can we see the backstamp ?? Not so unusual,, many of their wares had an oriental theme,, that is what was popular !! I didn`t find the scene odd at all for the time !!

Yes I love the Japanese inspired prints of the time and my family had a few of them, but none with a traditional English design alongside – the two seem incongruous to me! Maybe it’s just me. Will edit to add stamp.
