We bought this set from someone who walked into our shop with things to sell. The mark says Crown Ducal Ware England. I found the pattern listed on eBay as Exotic Bird and Butterfly, dated about 1920. But we can’t figure out what it was used for, since the bowl sits on three feet and has five holes in the bottom. The bowl is 8.75 inches in diameter and the plate is 9 inches. Any ideas?

Being it’s got legs it’s meant for air to flow, so I came up with a hot rolls or bread, fresh berries or fruit or someone very carefully drilled holes and screwed it down for the birds.
