Hi. I’m hoping someone can help me. I am trying to find the pattern name or number associated with my Winterling china.

Have tried everwhere and according to replacments.com, the number on the bottom does not match their records.

The bottom is stamped Winterling BAVARIA Germany 34 — logo is the standard round fern thing from the 1950’s.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Yes, it’s one of the typical 1950-1980 marks (Winterling altered their marks slightly all the time, hence I only show the most common forms).

This specific mark type can be found with WINTERLING – BAVARIA – GERMANY, WINTERLING – BAVARIA – MADE IN GERMANY or in the shown version you have. In addition, the text can be either below or above the actual graphic.

I did not see my china’s exact marking on your website have you seen that particular one before?

The numbers applied to the bottoms of these pieces are internal control IDs (e.g. which foreman freed the set for final firing).

Sites like replacements.com merely show THEIR OWN (!) stock number, those have nothing to do with the original number codes used by the manufacturer.

Most German manufacturers did not name their decorations, but left that to their importers/distributors. Which means that even in the US alone, any given decoration can have multiple names, depending on its former import/distribution status (e.g. via US East Coast or US West Coast).

I have this same set and I can’t find the Pattern name either. But my gravy bowl has a 13 number on it. All of the pieces have the same wording “Winterling made in Germany” the gray bowl is the only piece numbered.
