I’m wondering what this Peter Eggers oil painting is worth.
It was painted shortly before his death in 1901.
It measues 19.6 x 11.8 inches.
As for it’s condition it’s done remarkably well surviving 117 years, and the only thing I need to mention here is that there are 4 very tiny pinholes that are NOT obvious when looking at the painting from the front.
They are so small that you need to shine a light in front of the painting and then you can spot them only by looking from behind. They need to be pointed out.
I have tried my best to point them out in the pictures, but one is so small the camera will not pick it up.
And how much do you think a restoration would cost?
Thanks for the reply Martha….I agree with you 100% !!
This isn’t the first time an interesting painting has made it’s way to me, and the initial rush of excitement from acquiring this one has now waned.
Now it’s a waiting game trying to sell it.
I often do not understand and am confounded by the fluctuations in the antique Art market. It seems one year a certain artist is ‘hot’, and then later not so much.
I guess that’s the nature of the market.
Thanks again,
Warm regards,
Michael
