We have a Brass Bed bought 15 years ago full size it has J&M stamped in the legs of the headboard, how can I find the maker’s history?

The reason you have not found it is because these beds were not made by a furniture company or mfr as most think !! They were produced at a foundry or metal fabrication company !! they were then sold by a furniture retailer !! The part that has the J&M mark appears to be cast iron !! Can`t tell if its solid or tubular !!
Back in the late 1800`s and early 1900`s there were many small foundries in almost every major town !! Many of these either closed or were taken over by larger foundries !! There are really few records of these small foundries !!
Your bed is a fairly common type used in many country homes with a value of about $250. to $300. with the side rails !!

the timing fits, from what we knew about it, it is solid brass and cast, but only that much? crap hubby thought a lot more 🙂 thank you for info

Sorry Martha just moved and haven’t found cords to download pics to pc, only have pics on my phone and don’t know how to get them to pc, not very tech smart 🙂 but we bought it from a friend who had antique shop maybe 15 years ago and he said and it looks like it nearly 80 years old. no way for me to find the company that stamped it J&M? I search J&M on line and mostly see Joss and Maine sites.
