Then champlevé would be correct !! Just noticed the letters on the inkwell,,,what are they ?? Have found nothing on the letters or marks !! These things are almost impossible to tie to a single maker !! What ever company did the bronze would not have done the enameling too !! I would not disagree with it being 19th century,, at that time these were fairly common !! Let me check on the letters on the inkwell please !!
It is not a smooth finish. You can feel the indentations around each colored part. Possibly champleve. Also the picture that I posted with the EC and a possibly another letter after the C with the dotted circles around them, is located on the side of the wood blotter not on the red felt. Have you any idea whom the maker is or any information at all that would be of help to me. Maybe a year or 18th/19th century.. Any info would be helpful.
Is the EC on the felt part of the blotter ?? Doesn`t look like the bronze part !! Can you tell if it is indeed cloisonné or is it champlevé ?? Champleve is done by filling in indentions then firing the enamel and filing/buffing smooth,,cloisonné is done by soldering individual wires around the area to be enameled which creates the border and then colored and fired !! No indents in cloisonné !! Both have a similar look but cloisonné is much more detailed in the process !!
