Hello everyone, I have been trying to figure out what these are, or belonged to. The bottoms are not alike. They seem to be cut off of something maybe a flag pole, or fence post? There heavy for a small piece they measure about 5″x5″ I have two of them. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This came in as a consignment but I have no idea even what it really is. I don’t even know if it is particularly old. Anyone got an idea? It is a metal box with handles on either side. The box is about 10x10x2. Inside it has compartments with wooden lids. Each lid has a brass foo dog knob. There is a divided compartment on one side and the other side just has one long compartment. In the center is a compartment with a small brass/enamel painted oil lamp. To either side of the lamp are compartments with three small matching dishes. It is not new by any means, the wooden sections below the lids. I am not sure of the wood–teak? Rosewood? The outside is also decorated to match the lamps and dishes.

My first supposition is that it might be some kind of opium server! LOL! Or maybe it’s for chopsticks and heating and eating crickets for all I know! Anyone have an idea?
